NATIONAL CENTRE FOR CIRCUS ARTS
The National Centre for Circus Arts provides the UK’s only BA Hons degree in Circus Arts, as well as youth training programmes, professional development for performers, and recreational classes. Act IV was asked to deliver their first gala in 2014, celebrating their 25th Anniversary; and we returned to work with them for their second gala in May 2016, helping generate funds for their Lift Off fund, supporting artists at all stages of their careers to take risks and make discoveries in a creative atmosphere.
Hosted within the National Centre’s imposing home, the 19th century Shoreditch Electric Light Station, the 18m high ceilings made for an impressive backdrop to a dramatic and high energy evening, as guests witnessed breath-taking performances of acrobatics, dance, aerial silk routines and flying trapeze taking place above their heads.
Over the period of a year Act IV worked closely with the gala committee and National Centre staff to optimise fundraising opportunities, manage existing and new sponsorship deals, advise on guestlist, and ultimately ensure successful delivery of the event itself.
The gala exceeded its financial targets, raising over £200,000 from ticket sales, donations and fundraising on the night. Crucially, the event strengthened support for the National Centre for Circus Arts, and for the future of British circus.
“I just wanted to thank you and all of your team once again for your support for the National Centre and our Gala. Please do pass on my heartfelt thanks to every one of them.
Your support for our team is hugely appreciated and it does really feel as though you become ‘one of us’ through this process. Thank you again.” Kate White, CEO
