NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

The Natural History Museum is a world-class visitor attraction and leading science research centre. They maintain over 80 million specimens spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually. Moreover, they use their exceptional collections and expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today.

Act IV have been working closely with the Natural History Museum over the last year consulting on their fundraising and event strategy; which included the devising and delivering of a fantastic family event to wish ‘Dippy’ the Diplodocus goodbye before his UK tour.

Act IV worked on all elements of the ‘Goodbye and Good Luck Dippy’ event, including shaping the event format, creative content, and guest experience (from 18 months and up!). Utilising multiple museum spaces, the event saw adults and children alike become immersed in the delightfully dinosaur themed ‘Wonder Bays’ in Hintze Hall. Activities including Face Painting; Dino Arts and Crafts; DSI: Dino Scene Investigation; Super Stegasaurus; and ‘How to Draw Amazing Dinosaurs’ – all with colourful contributions from the inspiring Science Educators from the Museum’s Learning Department. The night also included surprise performances from CBeebies Presenter Andy Day; and McFly guitarist-turned children’s author Tom Fletcher. The event was a hugely successful model for engaging new and existing supporters of the Museum, as well allowing patrons and their children to see the NHM in a new and exciting way.
